POSTCARD

A postcard inspired by my love of travel, the beauty of the world and God's great commission. This one is up in my room - it's my personal favourite.

HEART

They say home is where the heart is but home can be so many different things. For me, having lived in so many different places, home is wherever my family is.

All profit from PDF purchases of this print will be donated to the SADAG fund in honour of my cousin who suffered from depression. She is missed everyday and my "home" is not the same without her.

LET'S DINNER PARTY

It's true, girls do just want to have dinner parties. Like markets, invite me to one and I'll cancel all my plans to be there.

God puts so much emphasis on community, and as much as I love to travel, having a home base where you can host and have people around is the biggest blessing of all.

DIG IN

“But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind…” - Luke 14:13

God invites us to have life in abundance, to live in His fullness. This invitation extends to us who are sinners, unworthy to sit at the table with Him, yet He makes room and encourages us to enjoy all He has provided. When we sit down for dinner, enjoy the food and company but also remember to give what you do not eat to those who may need it.

This print is another favourite of mine. It's big and bold and bright and fun and makes the whole room welcoming and warm.

GON SURFIN

While studying in Port Alfred, we spent most of our days on the beach so naturally, I decided I wanted to start surfing. The idea of it was great but the water was freezing and there were no shark nets (I definitely support this but after a recent shark attack, I was a bit apprehensive). So, like most of my hobbies over the years, it was a temporary endeavour. However, I intend to be a surfer girl at least once in my life, probably when I finally move to the Philippines and work in a juice shop on the beach. I'm declaring that for future me.

Inspired by a real-life number plate I saw recently. I just love the vibes.

The verse on this print feels like a response to this song. Before we even asked, God chose us, picked us out and wants to use us. Our positions and circumstances can all be turned and used for the good and expansion of God's Kingdom.

When I lived in Malawi and Mozambique, we met and encountered so many missionaries who where spreading the word in remote regions of Africa, translating the Bible into languages unheard of, all to share the glory of God with those who would never otherwise be able to encounter Him in their language.

SHAKA

A silly little catchphrase laced with sarcasm and affection.

Despite my mom always saying, "you only tease the ones you love", I used to hate it when I would finish a story and the person listening would say this nonchalantly like it wasn't a big deal. Even though I knew they were joking, it would just grind my gears. It's taken a couple years, but I've come to realise that my mom was right, as she is about most things (don't tell her).

GOD SENT YOU

A little reminder to go in the confidence of God, because believe it or not, you are there for a reason.

Just before I had to do my driving test, my mom sent me a verse about our confidence being in God. It is highlighted and underlined so many times in my Bible: “For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.” - Proverbs 3:26. Be strong and bold and courageous because God goes with you and before you.

TAKE OUT

When you move out of the house, cooking for yourself is the best. You can choose to make whatever you want, experiment and not have to worry about considering everyone's preferences and dietary restrictions.

The novelty lasts a week. After that, coming home after a long day of work and deciding what to make is actually draining and the last thing I feel like doing. On a starting salary, I didn't get to ask this question often, which is probably a good thing for my health, but one day when my kids ask for McDonald's after school, my response will seldom be: "we have food at home".

GET OUTSIDE

Bold and in-your-face (in a nice way) reminder to step outside and walk barefoot in the grass, or lie in the sun (but remember sunscreen) and breathe in the fresh air every once in a while (preferably several times a day.

I used to think I was incapable if tanning, I would blend into white walls, but being outside (responsibly) the entire day while working at camp left me more tanned than my cousin - you may not know her but it's a big deal.

BE HERE

One of my favourite quotes of all time (I was going to get a tattoo inspired by it but if I got any more my mom would actually disown me).

It's a daily encouragement to live in the moment. To be present wherever you may be. To "[not] be anxious about anything but instead pray about everything". God has gone before you so you don't have to be worried about the future, live every moment right.

I could use so many lyrics from this song, but these are my favourite.

When I got my first job in Cape Town and they started talking about how they see my future at the company, like LONG-term plans, I got so spooked. I felt trapped, like I had made a decision and had to stick with it. Like many of my friends' parents or even my own, they have stuck with the same job for YEARS. Just remember, you can change your life at any stage, you never have to stay in one place or in any situation for longer than you need to.

Go out, see the world and if necessary, you can always find your way back.

DRIVE

Inspired by my sister who loves to tag along just for the drive (I think it's because I'm great company but it's more likely because she knows I'll buy her something).

She is confident and super loyal to her friends and is every good thing I'm not. I aspire to be more like her.

She's great company too and quite funny when the joke isn't about me haha but drives are always way more fun with her around.
